ESP32-WROVER-E adopts PCB onboard antenna, ESP32-WROVER-IE adopts IPEX antenna. Both modules are configured with 4 MB SPI flash and 8 MB SPI PSRAM.

The chip used by ESP32-WROVER-E and ESP32-WROVER-IE is ESP32-D0WD-V3 * from Espressif ESP32 series. The ESP32-D0WD-V3 chip is scalable and adaptive. Both CPU cores can be controlled independently. The CPU clock frequency can be adjusted from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. Users can power down the CPU and use the low-power coprocessor to monitor the state changes of peripherals or whether certain analog quantities exceed thresholds. Espressif ESP32 also integrates rich peripherals, including capacitive touch sensor, Hall sensor, SD card interface, Ethernet interface, high-speed SPI, UART, I2S and I2C, etc.

The module integrates traditional Bluetooth, low-power Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and has a wide range of uses: Wi-Fi supports a wide range of communication connections, and also supports direct connection to the Internet through a router; while Bluetooth allows users to connect to mobile phones or broadcast BLE Beacon to facilitate signal detection. The sleep current of the ESP32 chip is less than 5 µA, making it suitable for battery-powered wearable electronics. The module supports data transfer rates up to 150 Mbps and antenna output power up to 20 dBm for maximum range wireless communication. Therefore, this module has industry-leading technical specifications and excellent performance in terms of high integration, wireless transmission distance, power consumption, and network connectivity.

The operating system of Espressif ESP32 is freeRTOS with LwIP, and it also has built-in TLS 1.2 with hardware acceleration. The chip also supports OTA encryption upgrade, which is convenient for users to continue to upgrade after the product is released.
